“Children – to Metropolitan Andrei”
A fruit garden will be planted in LvivIt is well known that the Metropolitan had taken care of orphans and donated funds to their living, education, and treatment. On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Andrei Sheptytsky, a charity event called “Children – to Metropolitan Andrei” will take place at Lviv boarding school No. 2 (2/4 Prosvity St.). In the course of the event the children will create an orchard, planting about a hundred trees. The representatives of various NGOs, school patrons, clergy, and volunteers will join the project.
The organizers expect an atmosphere of joy and happiness – every visitor will be able to sing haivky, participate in workshops or attend children’s goodies fair. “We gladly invite anyone interested to visit us and help planting the garden,” said Andrii Zakaliuk, the boarding school principal.
The boarding school was founded in 1956. Today there are 120 pupils studying and living here – mostly orphans, as well as children deprived of parental care and in other difficult circumstances.
