In September Ukrainian designers took part in two Italian fashion events at a time: one of the world’s leading fashion weeks, Milano Moda Donna, and the international fashion exhibit, White, which is well known mostly among the professionals. The project they were presenting is titled “Fresh Fashion from Kyiv.”

As a reminder: last October the Ukrainian Fashion Week was attended by the president of Italy’s Fashion Chamber, Mario Boselli. The main result of the famous fashion designer’s visit to Kyiv was a joint project of the Ukrainian Fashion Week and Milano Moda Donna.

The first stage of this project may be conditionally called “Ukrainian designers in Milan.” Fresh Fashion from Kyiv was launched on September 22-24 in the headquarters of the Milano Moda Donna. Notably, the event was included in the official program of the Milan Fashion Week, which is very important by itself. It showed such Ukrainian brands as anna bublik, Olena Dats’, Dominanta by Anastasia, Elena PRZONSKAYA, PODOLYAN, and Liudmyla KOMARDINA. The guests included the general manager of the Milan Fashion Week, Giulia Pirovano, and Mario Boselli, whom I have already mentioned.

On September 24 through 26 ANISIMOV, BEVZA, Elena BURENINA, BOBKOVA, vozianov, and the designers’ duo LUVI presented their images at the international exhibit White. Incidentally, designer Fedir Vozianov (vozianov brand) was not new at this prestigious exhibit.

“It is not a simple thing to get to an exhibit of such a level,” the head of the organizing committee, co-founder of the Ukrainian Fashion Week, Iryna DANYLEVSKA explained, “Only 170 participants are selected for showing their collections. It is gratifying that this year not just some designers were invited, but a Ukrainian platform was created.”

This year the Ukrainian fashion in Milan was represented by 11 designers, and the participants of the press conferences believed that the organizers and guests of the Milano Moda Donna, including buyers, could take interest in all of them.

“It is very important to take part in exhibits on the initial stages of your career, in order to feel your potential, because there you can hear truly competent opinion about your work,” Svitlana Bevza shared her impressions, “We did not expect that Italians, and not only them, would show so much interest and that the reaction would be so stormy. We heard many compliments to our new ideas. And the organization and professionalism of every participant of the event were just impressing.”

The next stage of the cooperation of the Ukrai-nian Fashion Week and Milano Moda Donna will be launched in Kyiv on October 14. Italian designers Francesca Liberatore, Cristiano Burani, and Mauro Gasperi will present their collections at a special show, Milano Moda Donna – Fashion Show.

“Not only do the Italian designers, who are going to show their collections, take commercial interest in our market. Our country and people and everything that is taking place at the UFW are also interesting for them,” Danylevska asserts. “Designers from other countries are welcome at our fashion week, because first of all, it is important to be open, observe what is going on in the world, and second, represent our country successfully at an international level.”

So, the 29th, Ukrainian Fashion Week will be launched in a couple of days and will last till October 17. Lilia Pustovit, Viktoria Hres, Olena Burenina, Oleksii Zalevsky, and Viktor Anisimov will present their new spring-summer 2012 collections on the first day of the event.
