Young patriots from Dnipropetrovsk decorated the unfinished Parus hotel with a 16-floor-high Ukrainian coat of arms. The hard work lasted from morning till evening, involving 40 to 50 lads and girls. To paint the coat of arms of Ukraine, they used more than 200 liters of blue and yellow paint. The youth action had support of the leadership of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast State Administration, headed by Ihor Kolomoisky, one of the founders of Privatbank. In fact, one of the structures of the Privat group owns the unfinished hotel, which stands on the Dnipro’s bank in the city center.

“The idea to decorate the hotel with a giant trident occurred to football fans of Dnipro FC. Lately, political activists took turns to hoist Ukrainian and Russian flags on it. It was therefore decided to paint a trident on it to definitively show that Dnipropetrovsk is a Ukrainian city, and it will be this way forever,” one of the participants of this effort, Svoboda member Kyrylo Dorolenko told us.

So, the work started at 9 a.m. on May 3. Football fans who had experience of staging performances in stadiums allocated every participant a sector. Climbing equipment was not necessary to paint the unfinished hotel’s facade. Each activist painted a balcony with a paint roller, and the whole picture came out spectacular. “Now, people who walk along the Dnipro embankment or cross the bridge will see the coat of arms of Ukraine. This has to have a positive impact on their consciousness and consolidate the Ukrainian identity of our city,” Dorolenko believes. Currently, young activists are contemplating registering Ukraine’s largest image of its coat of arms with the Guinness Book of Records.
