The exhibition includes works created by famous Ukrainian artists Anastasia Kraineva and Anastasia Hryhorieva. Their paintings are colorful and include fairytale creatures, myths and landscapes among the main characters of their plots. When comparing the work of two artists, one notices they have in common liking for combining colors as well as emotional and lyrical perception of reality.

Kraineva uses palette knife as a brush as she works in the impasto technique, known to art aficionados as a technique used by the legendary Van Gogh. As pointed out by the exhibition’s organizers, the creator has developed a very recognizable style. Most of her works are bordering on abstract art, but every stroke of the artist’s palette knife makes for a compelling picture! On the canvases, Kraineva realizes her own perception of nature and, of course, a special state of harmony, that incomparable, elusive reflection of the artist’s soul in it. Each of her paintings exudes warmth and joy, with main emphasis put on the color. “Everything colorless is sad,” the master told us. Now her works are held by the museums of Uzhhorod Erdeli College of Arts and Lviv Academy of Arts as well as private collections in Germany, France, Russia, and Ukraine.

Hryhorieva reveals the theme “Another Season” through fairytale and mythical images. The artist’s canvases tell her own fairytale populated by mysterious characters. “Actually, we all have been shaped by fairytales. This topic is hardwired in our subcortex, and it can come to the fore at any time,” she maintained. Her works are linking past and future with invisible threads. The organizers told The Day that the artist is working in an original creative manner at the crossroads of styles and trends; her riddle-filled phantasmagorias fascinate and attract like a magnet.

With rich, unpredictable plots, it looks like Hryhorieva commands every genre, including landscape, portrait, and everyday life scenes where she is engaged in dialogue with her characters. The artist’s works are kept in private collections in Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Georgia, Belarus, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Norway, and Ukraine.

The exhibition will run until February 23.
