Ready for victory

Representatives of the operational-tactical grouping’s (OTG’s) units and formations selected the best signaler, combat engineer, sniper, machinegun crew, reconnaissance group, artillery crew, tank and IFV crew at proving grounds and specially equipped places, the OTG “Mariupol” press service reports.

Every time servicemen were to fully exert themselves in a fierce competition for prizes. For what was at stake was not only the prestige of the unit, but also the right to represent the OTG “Mariupol” at the second stage of the competition for all the troops involved in the counterterrorist operation in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

In particular, during the competition for the best reconnaissance group, the participants were to do a 15-kilometer quick march and a 5-kilometer speed race in full gear, do firearms and grenade launcher exercises on a moving vehicle, adjust mortar battery fire, show the skills of terrain orienteering, cross a mined area, organize a day’s rest, set up observation posts, render medical assistance, evacuate a wounded soldier from the battlefield, etc.
