French Citroens visit Lviv

The trans-European Paris-St. Petersburg car race began on July 6 and will last three weeks. The race commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first. Big 15 Citroen and its modifications, Light 16 and Big 6. Eighteen vintage cars, more than five decades old, will make the trek through eleven European countries, including France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Belgium. The oldest car is 74 years old, and the most recent model is 50.

In Lviv oblast the visiting French drivers were welcomed by the Halych Historical-Technical Society. They were taken to a car show (see photo) in Lviv, where the guests were met by local journalists and their Ukrainian colleagues from the ZAZ-KOZAK Zaporozhets fan club. The French called this year’s rally, the jubilee Citroen European tour, Cossack 2007.

In France, Citroen is considered the people’s car. In Ukraine, the first domestic Zaporozhets ZAZ-965 model is no less respected. The French and Ukrainian car clubs decided to become friends, and this September residents of Lviv will drive their Zaporozhets cars to various EU countries, including France.
