While last year’s competition had only four teams participating, this time, as much as nine teams representing leading universities of the country came to take part in the race. The crews, each including five students and a qualified yacht captain coach, demonstrated their sailing skills during the four stages of the race, each of which consisted of two loops. Very windy weather was an additional challenge, and participants had to make considerable efforts to cope with the task and make it to the finish line at every stage of the regatta. Although students are not professional yachtsmen, all the crews reached the finish.

With all points counted, the team of National University of Construction and Architecture of Kyiv came out as the winners. The second place went to the winners of the previous year’s competition, students of Hetman Sahaidachny Kyiv State Academy of Water Transport, and the team of Shevchenko National University of Kyiv came in the third place.
Besides the cup for the first place, the future architects received also the Challenge Cup of Kyiv State Academy of Water Transport and… books from Den’s Library, as an incentive to promote their intellectual development.

“We purposefully chose books from Den’s Library as our presents for participants of the regatta. We donated them before to soldiers and border guards, and now to student athletes. It is extremely important for youths to know the true history of Ukraine, not a history written by foreign scholars. Therefore, the regatta’s participants admitted they would willingly read Ukraine Incognita, The Power of the Soft Sign and books of the series ‘Armor-Piercing Political Writing.’ On reading them, the students will make right judgments about their nation’s history, traditions, and culture,” deputy director of Akva-servis Ltd. Oleksandr Yurkov commented for The Day. He was a major supporter of the regatta. “As it was planned, some questioned whether it should be held at all in such a difficult time. However, we agreed that the student regatta tradition, as well as all our new traditions, ought to be maintained and continued. For young people, it was not only a sport festival, but also a demonstration of their healthy lifestyle, supporting their physical and intellectual development alike.”
