Dec. 1 1991: The Ukrainian people confirm the Proclamation of Ukrainian Independence during a referendum. Leonid Kravchuk is elected president of Ukraine.

Dec. 2 2004: The European Parliament adopts a resolution calling for the annulment of the results of the second round of presidential elections in Ukraine.

Dec. 3 1932: The Council of People’s Commissars of the Ukrainian SSR bans the sale of meat and cattle in all regions of Ukraine that have failed to meet the delivery quotas.

Dec. 4 1925: The first issue of the all-Ukrainian newspaper Komsomolets Ukrainy is published in Kharkiv (Molod’ Ukrainy from 1943).
