“We know your newspaper very well. As far as I know, some of our soldiers are your subscribers, and there are a few who have been this way since Den’s foundation,” a detachment commander of the Azov regiment, going by callsign Dushman, told us. The volunteers, along with the Ministry of Defense troops, are holding the line in an area near Mariupol. “We suspect that the other side is preparing to go on the offensive, and we, accordingly, are preparing to repel them. Our Azov men always look forward to Muscovite offensives,” Dushman revealed to us.

When asked about the battalion’s supply situation, he responded as follows: “Nothing has changed recently. We have got a lot of promises, but as far as we understand, supplies will only arrive after the regiment, formerly the battalion, is transferred from police to the National Guard. The corresponding order has been signed, but this procedure will take some time. This is concerning weapons, equipment and the like. As for the rest, we are still mainly supplied by civic volunteers. Still, we have high expectations. Our men are wearing warm clothes now, we have taken care of it.”
