Pikkardiiska Tertsia and Pavlo Tabakov will perform carols and New Year songs for passengers of Lviv’s trams and trolleybuses

From St. Nicholas Day to Epiphany, passengers of Lviv’s trams and trolleybuses will hear not just conventional stop announcements, but carols and New Year songs as well, Den learned at Lvivelektrotrans municipal enterprise. “As we cannot afford the New Year and Christmas illumination, we have decided to put a festive mood and warmth in the hearts of our passengers in this way,” Lvivelektrotrans’s marketing head Olha Bachynska said. She added that Pikkardiiska Tertsia singers and singer and composer Pavlo Tabakov had volunteered for the project.

“The Christmas and New Year period is a special time in Lviv. We hope that our takes on carols will, in fact, create a special atmosphere for passengers of Lviv’s trams and trolleybuses. Even a regular tram ride in Lviv is an interesting adventure for any visitor, but a ride accompanied by carols will be even more so!” Pikkardiiska Tertsia’s artistic director Volodymyr Yakymets believes.

“My album of carols and Christmas songs, called Christmas for a Pair, is a melodic and hearty collection. It includes traditional Ukrainian carols in original arrangements and my own holiday songs. I am sure that this fantastic holiday time will see Leopolitans and guests of the city gladly listening to carols everywhere, even in public transport,” singer and composer Tabakov added.
