Kamianets will become a capital again

On August 24 through 25 Kamianets-Podilsky (Khmelnytsky oblast) will hold the Second Military-Historical Festival “Last Capital,” dedicated to the UNR time. As a reminder: in 1919-20 Kamianets was made the capital of Petliura Ukraine, which had operating ministries and even received foreign ambassadors. About 200 reenactors from Ukraine and Russia will take part in the event, recreating the 1919 events. It will be possible to watch the “battles” between Petliura’s warriors and RKKA soldiers (the Red Army of Workers and Peasants) near the Novoplanivka bridge and city hall on August 24 (start at 6 p.m.) and in the canyon of the Smotrych River near the Old Fortress on August 25 (start at 12 a.m.). The show will be absolutely free and for sure authentic: the uniform of the participants of the festival have been recreated based on the old samples to the tiniest details. There will be machineguns, Mausers – of course, replicas (the pyrotechnicians are responsible for the loudness of shots). In the time free from the war actions the reenactors will drill and recreate the camp life of the soldiers of the early 20th century for all the guests of the Kamianets-Podilsky Castle.
