Ivan Honchar Museum welcomes
Christmas program for the whole family!This holiday reflects the national coloring and spirit: folk melodies, performances of the Nativity Play, traditional dishes etc. One will have a chance to feel this marvelous atmosphere soon by visiting the National Center of Folk Culture the Ivan Honchar Museum. There they cherish the traditions of Ukrainian Christmas, develop intercultural dialog, and care about friendly relations and family unity. Now they have initiated the unprecedented project “Tomorrow is Christmas!”
The goal of the project is to present Christmas traditions and integrate them into a global cultural context through the realization of a broad cultural-educational program. By lighting the Christmas star over the Museum, the organizers would like to stress the importance of reviving and supporting the traditions and development of cultural integration. The organizers of the activity see their objectives as follows:
– to bring family values up to date by means of reviving and developing traditions in the circle of famous Ukrainian families;
– to realize cultural interaction by means of integrating Ukrainian traditions in a European context, cooperating with embassies, and with the participation of the diaspora in the project “Tomorrow is Christmas!”;
– to present the tradition of Ukrainian Christmas through the art of painting, theater, literature, folk craft (making traditional gifts), photo, music;
– to unite and support regional communities (associations of people coming from a particular area) based on studying Christmas traditions;
– to involve the young generation, children, and their families in organizing the project “Tomorrow is Christmas!”;
– to hold a charitable activity “The Ivan Honchar Museum for Children,” aiming at the support of talented children from rural communities;
– to realize the international action “Night in the Museum.”
