1917: Kyiv hosts the All-Ukrainian National Congress. Among the delegates are representatives of various Ukrainian political, social, cultural, and professional organizations. This congress resolves that Ukraine’s national and territorial autonomy is the only way to meet the people’s needs. A new Central Rada membership is elected, headed by Mykhailo Hrushevsky.

1917: The Congress of Ukrainian Village Representatives is called to order. It forms the Ukrainian Peasants’ Association tasked with achieving Ukraine’s national and territorial autonomy and carrying out the agrarian reform.

1937: Ukrainian nationalists are court-martialed in Bukovyna, then part of Romania.

1945: Yurii Fedkovych Literary Museum is founded in Chernivtsi.

1979: The Soviet [Council] of Ministers of the USSR resolves to establish the State University of Zaporizhia.
