1653: The Muscovite tsar’s envoys, headed by Vasily Buturlin, are dispatched to Pereiaslav, to receive the Zaporozhian Host’s oath of allegiance to Muscovy.

1914: Members of the Galician (Halychyna) Parliament file a note of protest addressed to the international community, against Russia’s proclamation of the Orthodox Church as the predominant one in Galicia, and against the arrest of Metropolitan Sheptytsky and the persecution of the Uniate Greek Catholic Church.

1943: The Declaration of the Four Nations on General Security is adopted in Moscow, in the course of the Moscow Conference between the major Allies in WW II.

1954: UK and Egypt conclude an agreement on the phased evacuation of British troops from the Suez base, while reserving the British right to return for seven years in case of war.

1989: The Constituent Assembly of the Republican Association for Ukrainian Studies is called to order.
