Ukrainian macho ready for action

This young, talented and handsome man from Dnipropetrovsk impetuously stormed into Ukrainian show business. Someone remembered the rich-voiced Tkachenko as a finalist of Chance-4 TV show, someone supported the vocalist when he performed in the Barcelona duet at the International Contest New Wave in Jurmala, someone applauded him as a participant of You’re a Star Show (the Ukrainian selection for Eurovision-2006), and someone sent SMS-messages, voting for the finalist in TV competitions X Factor and Dancing with the Stars. However, Volodymyr confessed that he never dreamed of the stage in his childhood. He entered the Building Academy, thinking to get a real man’s profession; he took part in student evenings and sang (as a hobby), but gradually he became addicted to pop music. He steeled himself as an artist by taking part in vocal competitions. Today, Volodymyr Tkachenko has his own fans (mostly girls from 14 to 25 years old), he performs a lot and the critics call him a “Ukrainian macho”; he also writes his own music, and does this quite well. By the way, Tkachenko’s composing talent was supported by Aliona Mozhova, who became the singer’s producer.

“The program ‘I Choose You,’ which will be presented by Volodymyr at the Arena Concert Plaza, will show a new side of his talent,” emphasized Mrs. MOZHOVA. “This will be not just a presentation of the concert, but a completely another Tkachenko, yet unfamiliar to the viewers. Ten of the twelve songs are of his own composition! Having started his promotion in show business at the age of 20, Volodymyr has already conquered quite many peaks. But he has no ‘star fever’: he is working a lot (the concert program ‘I Choose You’ was born during three months). If formerly his repertoire consisted of international and Ukrainian hits, as well as compositions written specifically for him by famous poets and composers, on October 7 Tkachenko will perform his own songs and music. These are compositions in the rock and pop styles. Now the song ‘I Choose You,’ which gave name to the concert program, is in the top ten at M1 and is in rotation on many FM radio stations.

“It is important for me that Volodymyr knows what he wants, and when he puts a goal, he surely achieves it. He writes interesting music, and as a vocalist he performs every song, putting his heart into it (though he has no professional musical education). It is impossible to confuse him with anyone else. And also Tkachenko is a positive person. Today, a team of like-minded people – highly professional musicians – has gathered around him. The public will remember the concert not by its feathers, spangles, and dances (although after reaching the finale of Dancing with the Stars and winning the bronze, he learned to dance very well thanks to his partner on the show Iryna Leshchenko), but by qualitative music and soulful performance. The program counts on songs, and if we intend to make a show, then we’ll venture upon the hall of the Palace of Sports and Donbas Arena, but that’s our plans, so to speak, for the future.”
