Three evenings

The shows will be held in the Les Kurbas National Center of Theater Art, and a year after the broad program “Polish Theater in Kyiv,” the International Festival “Theater Confrontations” will come again to our country to present its new productions.

The first evening of Polish theater will be launched on September 12 by NN, a dancing performance of the Lublin-based Dance Theater. The show is a tribute to legendary dancer Vaclav Nijinsky. NN, staged by Richard Kalinowski offers a modern vision of life behind scenes, showing the terrible reality of the life of a ballet star, when the pinnacle of Nijinsky’s career coincides with exacerbation of his disease, and talent and perfectionism are faced with everyday helplessness.

The one-person show Luna by scriptwriter and director from Lodz Artur Urbanski, Luna, is based on real events. A nun raped by her spiritual mentor becomes a heroine of a TV show. The play shows the world of a woman who fights with the cruel destiny.

The Teatralne Kolo Studio will present for the audience a “comedy with elements of drama” based on Will Kern’s screenplay to the movie Hellcab. Director Igor Gorzowski develops sometimes funny, sometimes dramatic stories told by accidental passengers of an ordinary taxi on Christmas Eve in the backdrop of the stormy life of the Warsaw megalopolis.

The organizers of the festival underlined that a kind of a bonus for the audience will be the screening of TV version of the play Turandot staged by Pawel Passini, which last year won not only the hearts of Kyiv residents, but also of the severe audience of the Edinburgh Festival, having won several awards of the forum.
